The Eggen lab has been focused on the epigenetic regulation of microglial identity and function in health and disease. They elucidate in many studies the link between the epigenetic modifications and the consequent transcriptional and translational alterations in microglia. In a recent article in Science, the Eggen lab has identified specific microglial subsets that are distinct in the fetal human brain, supporting the notion of specific microglial functional differences between the developing and mature brain.
