The Long Night of Science 2023 took place on June 17 in Berlin and Potsdam at various scientific institutions. From 4:30 pm to 9:00 pm, NeuroMac PI PD Dr. Chotima Böttcher and NeuroMac School student Gerardina Gallaccio held an interactive popular science workshop (in both German and English) in the MDC Berlin on the topic of “Gut feeling: how the gut communicates with the brain” (in German, “Bauchgefühl: wie der Darm mit dem Gehirn kommuniziert”). The workshop caught lots of interest and curiosity from participants with different age (12-80s yr) and professionals, and initiated intensive discussion on how gut could influence brain function and vice versa. Furthermore, there was also interactive discussion on the complexity of factors involving in health-to-disease transition. Dr. Böttcher also presented to the audience different ongoing projects in this topic including NeuroMac project.
